Inspiration

From a young age, I’ve loved listening to heavy rock music. What I loved even more was watching the artists play their instruments with such precision, carefully choosing what combination of effects works best with the rest of the composition. I would watch as the guitarists step on a specific series of effect pedals, generating sounds varying from neverending sustain to a subtle fuzziness.

Instead of buying a pedal, I decided to look into making one. I found a very thorough explanation and guide from ElectroSmash.

Simulating

Before building the pedal, I wanted to hear how it would sound. I built the circuit in LTspice using the values provided, but needed a way to put real audio into the circuit. From LTspice documentation, I learned that I can import and export audio in the form of .wav files.

My next step was recording a very short audio clip in Audacity and exporting it as a .wav file into the appropriate LTspice folder.
